GENESIS: How it works
First off, let's get terms down. Genesis isn't the name of the process. It's a label. A description. It's what it IS. The name of the process is probably something prosaic and scientifobabbly like syncroclasm--I just made that up--or something. (NOTE: It is CASIC, as outlined in D:TTS-I, Book of Genesis. Clone Animation by Syncretic Implantation of Consciousness.)
There are three processes at work:
First, there is the generation, creation, whatever, of a Vessel for the entity. I would say this can be anything from the autoclone body that Dolly and Xe Doll inhabit to a Pyrex beaker.
Second, there is the transfer of the entity's essence, (let's call it the "Anima"), into the Vessel.
Third, there is the process of assimilation. You can't, after all, expect to dump an Anima into a Vessel and just expect it to live happily ever after. It has to learn where all the knobs are, how to operate the machinery, and how to get along in the new environment.
And there are three participants in the process:
First, there is the entity seeking to make the change. The Leap, we'll call it. In my example, this is Gabrielle Dolly. We'll call this person the Seeker.
Second, there is the Maker ... the person who "produces" the change. In this case, that's Redpath.
(REDPATH REPLACES SURYON, THIS SHADOWY FIGURE ON THE FRINGES OF CENTER LIFE AND I'D PREFER TO KEEP HIM THAT WAY. I CALL HIM A THAUMATURGE, BUT HE COULD ALSO BE CALLED A WARLOCK OR PRESTIDIGITATOR. I THINK OF HIM AS BEING SOMEWHAT LIKE THE TECHNO MAGES IN BABYLON 5 ... EQUALLY ADEPT AT SCIENCE, MAGIC, AND ILLUSION, AND NOT REALLY WILLING TO LET YOU FIND OUT WHICH IS WHICH. I THINK HE MIGHT HAVE WORKED WITH A DIFFERENT PANTHEON THAN THE OLYMPIANS, BUT IN A SIMILAR CAPACITY AS DRUMMOND HAD WITH HEPHAESTUS ... AS A SORT OF A TOYMAKER/ARTIFICER KIND OF CHARACTER. HE'S OLDER AND MORE EXPERIENCED THAN DRUMMOND, THOUGH. I'D GUESS HE'S OVER A THOUSAND YEARS OLD, (BUT DOESN'T LOOK A DAY OVER FORTY.)
Third, there is a companion or Guide. In this case that's "Drummond". This person's job is to help the Seeker to make decisions necessary in planning the Leap and then to acclimate to the new life after.
