GENESIS: The Genesis storm

So: the Genesis storm itself is the moment of creation. This is when all of the preparation comes to its culmination and the Anima of the Seeker makes the Leap into the new Vessel. Vast and mysterious forces and energies are in play, and the process is violent and scary and very dangerous, both for the Seeker, and for the Guide, who must stand with the Seeker in the center of the storm and go through it with him/her.

I haven't formalized this any more than that. I haven't, for instance, decided whether or not the Genesis storm itself is metaphorical or actual.

NOTE: IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING DOLLY: THE TRUE STORY, I WORKED OUT THAT THE STORM IS A BYPRODUCT OF THE NEED TO BLEED OFF ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF HEAT. A TURBINE-DRIVEN FAN IS USED TO BLOW AIR THROUGH THE CASIC CHAMBER TO BLEED OFF HEAT THAT WOULD OTHERWISE KILL THE AUTOCLONE. WATER IS ALSO USED TO ENHANCE THE COOLANT EFFECT.

Now, it is not physically impossible for the Seeker to take the Leap without a Guide. It is just MORE dangerous than otherwise. It puts the Seeker's soul in grave danger and almost always results in mental and emotional imbalance.

The whole thing can be compared to a birth trauma in a way. The blessing of a "normal" birth trauma is that we don't generally remember it and so there's a cushion. But in the case of a Genesis storm, the Seeker is already self-aware and will remember the storm, so there is always an element of Post-Traumatic Stress in the Seeker's behavior after the Leap. (Which was why GD went wild after hers and why XD is STILL so unbalanced.)

It's a measure of Xena Doll's courage, determination, and strength of character, (and her ability to convincingly threaten Suryon's life, although I haven't written about that yet), that she survived it at all. But there wasn't anybody to go through it with her, Sappho not having "found" her then yet. Before. Still. To.
