The Luther E. Warren
Peace Path

Overview

The first completed section of the local Wilmington trail is known as the Luther E. Warren Peace Path.  It is a 2 mile long linear park consisting of an 8 foot wide asphalt path which runs from Mulberry Street to Nelson Avenue.  The trail runs along the banks of Lytle Creek and passes by Sugar Grove Cemetery, Clinton Memorial Hospital's back parking lot, and the Kautex-Textron Company plant.  Most of the trail is canopied by trees along the heavily wooded path and includes two Lytle Creek crossings via the E. E. "Mac" McKibben bridge  (click to view) near the Kautex-TextronPlant and the Nathan S. Hale bridge (click to view) behind the hospital.  You can learn more about the Luther E. Warren Peace Path by clicking on the links above.

The existing trail is being expanded with a planned urban trail over Wilmington City streets.  The urban trail will connect the Mulberry Trailhead of the Peace Path with the new 4-C Bicentennial Trail.  This trail runs through the Wilmington College area and will end at Fife Avenue near the David R. Williams Park.
