Just Remember Moonlight shines over a barren, desolate land. The ashes, spread as far as the eye can see, deny the former life that once surged in this place. Out of the darkness, a lone figure soars through the sky, wings outstretched. The Imperialdramon glides slowly to the ground and lands, stirring up a cloud of ashes. Two smaller figures jump off his back, landing in a miniature cloud of ash. One, a teenage girl, straightens up and walks a few soft paces away. Stray moonbeams shimmer as they fall on the silver Crest hanging about her neck, and unshed tears likewise shimmer in her eyes. The Imperialdramon and Gatomon silently move on, giving her space. The girl looks around at the dead land. This place was my second home. It was here that I learned who I was and what I was worth. And now, look at it... She begins to pace, sliding along silently as a shadow, not willing to break the stillness. This was the place where my Paladin and Lightning were born... And here's where my Fireball and Blue Moon combined themselves into Omega... Here's where we won our first boss battle... The memories continue to flow as she slowly processes over the waste. She remembers the good times that were had by all who came here, and as time goes on, she can almost hear their voices around her. Suddenly, the girl stops and grips her Crest. Silver light shines forth from the small charm, and the girl is enveloped in the glow. Scenes flash before her tightly shut eyes, images of people and places. She hears sounds in the distance, voices that she knows, but most convincing is the feeling. She can feel the spirit of the land calling out to her with a simple innocence and joy, bringing back to her mind all the good times she had had. She releases her Crest and the silver glow slowly dies away. Teardrops fall to the ground as she opens her eyes, but there is a smile on her face. Things like this don't just end. The spirit of this place is still alive and well. It never died, and it will go on, just as we all will go on...forever. Turning her eyes to the sky, she sees her two Digimon returning through the barren ash-land. “Paladin...Lightning,” she calls softly, breaking the stillness for the first time. “Let's go.” The Imperialdramon lands before her, and the Gatomon jumps into her arms. She climbs on the dragon Digimon's back, and the three take to the sky once more. They are almost out of sight when the girl turns back for one last look at the land. She feels its spirit once more calling out to her. *We will go on forever, as long as you just remember...* In memory of D-M's Digimon RPG, November 9, 2000 - March 15, 2005. |
