3rd INTERNATIONAL
SHAVING COLLECTIBLES MEETING

* * * October 21-22, 2006 * * *

West Chester, Ohio, USA

The 3rd International Shaving Collectibles Meeting is being held this year in West Chester, Ohio, and will provide a setting for the coming together of both seasoned and new collectors of shaving memorabilia. Opportunities will be available for displaying, selling, and trading. Summaries and photos of the previous two meetings can be viewed at:

2005 Shaving Collectibles Meeting

Do you find that:

After 5 minutes, your friends have difficulty staying focused when you talk about razors, blades, stroppers, and the like; after 10 minutes, they are nowhere to be found.

Every year, one by one, the rooms in your house are being converted to shaving memorabilia sites, and you still need to find more items to add to your collection.

You arrive at outdoor antique markets before the vendors have even had a chance to set up, in hopes of finding that rare, one-of-a-kind shaving item.

You are now trying to entice your mailman, UPS driver, or newspaper delivery boy to view your collection; and lately, have no mail, deliveries, and can't keep up with current events.

If you answered yes to any of the above, then this meeting may be the perfect get-a-way for you. People will be attending who have interests in safety razors, straight razors, stroppers and hones, razor blades, blade banks, and other shaving related items. They have been trained to not only stay awake during extended discussions of barberabilia, but to also derive pleasure and enjoyment from them. You will see in person those rare collectibles you have only read about or seen in pictures. So join me and your fellow collectors in an atmosphere of congeniality, sharing, and stimulating discussions.

If you are new to this hobby, you will find that the seasoned collectors attending are warm and friendly and eager to share their knowledge and experiences with you. You will also find many items for sale that can be added to your collection. This is a meeting you don't want to miss.

The Cincinnati/West Chester area of the Midwest has an extended fall season with mild temperatures and beautiful foliage. It also has many attractions – cultural, sports, dining, that are typical of large, cosmopolitan cities.

MEETING AGENDA

For those arriving on Friday, October 20, an informal dinner get-together will take place at a local restaurant. The formal meeting, at the beautiful Indiana Wesleyan Conference Center in West Chester, Ohio, will take place on Saturday from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm. Coffee and sweet rolls will be available in the morning as well as lunch and coffee/beverage breaks during the day. On Sunday morning, there will be a brunch at the Rosenthals', a short 5-10 minute drive from the meeting site.

Tables will be available in the meeting room for exhibiting, selling, or swapping of shaving items. Several short presentations during the day will feature topics of interest. There will be a special "Show and Tell session." And, of course, ample time will be available to talk with fellow collectors.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

The Hampton Inn Hotel, West Chester, Ohio. The hotel, new in 2005, is located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio, near Exit 19 off of Interstate I-75. It is about 50 yards from the Indiana Wesleyan Conference Center. A block of rooms is being held until September 30, specifically for this meeting, at a special rate of $84.00 plus tax/night for either single or double occupancy. To receive this rate, tell the hotel (telephone 513 874-1105) when making reservations that you are attending the Shaving Collectibles Meeting at the Indiana Wesleyan Conference Center on October 21-22.

The hotel has a free hot breakfast every morning for guests, in-room refrigerator, microwave oven, free Internet access, cable TV with movie channel, and many other features. People attending last year's meeting raved about the wonderful accommodations and amenities this hotel had to offer that were included at such a reasonable price.

GETTING TO THE MEETING

If not driving, swimming, backpacking, or taking a Greyhound Bus to the meeting, flying (by plane) may be your best option. There are two airports about equidistant from the hotel: the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) International Airport and the Dayton, Ohio, International Airport. Check airfares for both airports. Many times, the Dayton airport will have lower fares. The best transportation from the airport will be by rental car. Weekend rates are usually between 20 and 30 dollars per day, depending upon size of car and rental agency.

Both hotel and conference center are located at exit 19 off of Interstate I-75, only a few miles north of Cincinnati.

REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee for the meeting is $75. Spouses, at a special reduced fee of $20, are always welcome and encouraged to attend.

Fee includes: All day coffee, morning and afternoon breaks with homemade goodies, and lunch on Saturday; Sunday morning brunch at the Rosenthals; and meeting rooms, display tables, audiovisual equipment, and related meeting materials.
