My Catfishing Tackle

Because of my lack of knowledge in the use of baitcasters, I use nothing but spinning combos.  Although the two pictures below are of the same combo, I have a pair of them, identically setup.  The only difference is when I'm actually fishing on the Great Miami River.  On one of them I use a slip-rig setup, on the other I use a 3-way rig.  If nothing else, my combos are inexpensive, yet of a respectable quality.  I also have a 13' Silstar Meatstick heavy action surf rod for when I'm fishing on the Ohio River.

My rods are 8' Berkley Catmandu, medium-heavy action catfishing rods.  The reels are Shakespeare Tidewater "Freeliner" (TWS70FL) models.  I'm currently using Spiderwire Catfish Fusion in 30 pound test (with 17 pound test diameter).  The amount of weight I use at any given time is totally dependant upon current flow, but usually 2 ounces is sufficient.  Depending on the bait I'm using at the time, I will use either a 6/0 or 8/0 Gamakatsu Octopus Circle hooks.
