2nd Tennessee Infantry Regiment, U.S.A.
Complete Roster
SOURCES:
Almost all roster information is extracted from compiled military service records on microfilm at the National Archives , Washington, D.C. Records may be purchased from the National Archives Trust Fund Board or examined on site. Reference: Microcopy No. 395 rolls 129 - 135. Some of the information is extracted from the pension files of individual soldiers, also at the National Archives in Washington, DC. A few vital statistics and some personal information was taken from various county histories and genealogical references at the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library. If you need information regarding any source, please contact me. The roster is also updated as users of the site submit information.
NOTE TO RESEARCHERS: If you are looking for your ancestor, and he is from Tennessee but not listed, attempt to find the following book: Tennesseans in the Civil War published by the Centennial Civil War Commission in 1964. Most libraries of decent size should have it. This is a 2-volume set. Check Vol 2 for his name. Both Union and Confederate soldiers are listed, so make sure you are in the right section. Once you have the regiment and company, you can refer to Vol 1 for a brief history of the unit.
You should also consider sending for a copy of his pension file. Click National Archives for instructions.
